The Run Merrickville organizing committee has started succession planning and is looking for people willing to step forward into executive committee positions to take over the 2023 event. To this end the organizers will be hosting a meeting at the library here in Merrickville September 28th from 7pm to 9pm to discuss positions available and needed.

Planning for Run Merrickville started in 2015 and the first event was held in 2016. Since then, the event has blossomed to include runners and walkers of all ages from across the country. Run Merrickville is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario and Certified by Athletics Canada.

Race Director, Lori Reynolds and Volunteer co-ordinator, Sally MacInnis have been working on this event since the inception. Both said this has been an amazing journey and they have loved every minute spent on organizing this run. They said they could not have held this event without the help, support and enthusiasm shown by their teams of volunteers, local sponsors, and the ongoing support of the community.

The organizing committee believes however, it is time to “pass on the torch” and bring in some newer people with fresh ideas to improve an already well received event.

Members of the current executive will be available to work along with new executive members to answer questions and provide guidance through the requirements for holding a sanctioned running event.

Please consider taking on a leadership role in this successful community event. Once again, the meeting is at library here in Merrickville September 28th from 7pm to 9pm. RSVP to Lori Reynolds or Sally MacInnis at: runmerrickville@gmail.com
