Run Merrickville Presents Cheque to Merrickville District Trails Society

The development of a Story Trail for children took a giant leap forward this summer with a generous donation from Run Merrickville.

Members of the Merrickville District Trail Society (MDTS) and Run Merrickville met at the trailhead to the Woodland-Toboggan Hill Loop on July 12 for a quick ceremony to present the $1000 cheque to MDTS.

Run Merrickville Co-Director Lori Urquhart presented the cheque to MDTS along with Co-Director Steve Templeton and Sally MacInnis. The leads for the Story Trail project Anne Tener and Andrea Howard were on hand to accept the donation as well as MDTS member Tony Shaw.

MDTS Chair Tim Allen says the money will be extremely useful as seed money for projects such as the Story Trail to entice people of all ages to use the extensive trail system that Merrickville-Wolford has to offer.

“Our first priority for this donation will be to work with the Merrickville Library to develop the Story Trails concept,” he says. “We can hopefully have an initial run later this year.”
