October 1st, 2016 – Mayor David Nash joined staff, parents and students of Merrickville Public School in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the school.  He and school principal Tanya Preston planted a maple tree to commemorate the occasion.  The tree was presented to the school by Merrickville-Wolford Council.

Also on hand for the occasion was Pat Watson.  She is a village resident and a former School Board Trustee.  She cast the deciding vote to get the school built in Merrickville and attended the school’s opening ceremony 50 years ago.
